Henry William Saddler (1909-1987) and Florance Abby Butts (1898-1990). Married 1920. Hank and Florance Saddler were the first permanent or year-round park employees at Palomar Mountain State Park, from July 1, 1940 to April 24, 1948 (with a gap for military service from January 16, 1943 to November 30, 1945). Saddler writes about his first trips to Palomar Mountain, starting and running the Palomar Mountain State Park, constructing a prison honor camp, building a reservoir in upper Doane Valley, the Park's apple trees and varieties, Robert Asher, Alice Hill, native American acorn gathering, and other topics.
